Open brower based games list

gepostet vor 16 Jahre, 3 Monate von Daedeloth

Hi there,

I'm sorry, I can't speak / write german, so I'll do it in English.

I have started a project to make an up to date list of browser games with some additional features. The idea behind the system is that, instead of submitting your game to various websites, you just put an XML on your server with all the details. This way, websites can fetch the latest information from your game.

I'm trying to convince game developers and site owners to implement our system. If a lot of games support the information API, more game websites will use the provided data.

GalaxyNews could, for example, do a daily update of all it's games. This way, data like amount of players, version, running servers etc. could be more exact and up to date, without forcing the developers to update it all the time.

But that's not it. With our advanced information API, sites like GalaxyNews can add features like in-game ranking, game badges, one click "no-registration" gaming (by using GalaxyNews ID) etc.

Please take a look at our site:
http://www.browser-games-hub.org/

Adding your game only takes a  few minutes. The more games we have, the more websites will use the API.

But what's about illegal content?

A browsergame developer might write illegal stuff into the description of his game. If Galaxy News is displaying illegal content this can be very expensive for them.

Best Regards Kevka

Our list will be manually and automatically checked for spam, illegal content etc.

But it's pretty much the same as putting illegal content in a game's description now. GalaxyNews still has the power to remove content. The only difference is that, instead of submitting the data by hand, the data is fetched from an XML.

What about using a RSS-Feed? Would be much easier for the gameadmins.

An RSS feed is too limited.

However, RSS feeds are based on XML, so I don't see why it would be easier for game developers to write an RSS feed instead of an XML.

(However, now I happen to think about it, there should be a way to post news messages aswell, so that could be in RSS format)

Very cool idea - keep us up to date! :)

Hi there,

I'm trying to get as much games in the list before contacting the "big sites". The more games I can offer, the more interested they will be.

So, if you have a game, please add it :) I'm sure some extra free advertisement won't hurt a bit.

One cat avatar, one entry!

Hehe, thanks for adding your game :)

Spread the word!

Since it's a matter of common knowledge, that i have the cutest and best cat avatar in these forums, it should be my honorable duty to add a game to your list.

But all i can do at the moment is to assure you that i will catch that up when my game is released ;)
It's really a great idea, offering live game stats to browsergame sites.

Nah, we have a "status" field aswell :)

Just put it in the list with status "development" ;-)

I am currently working on a facebook application that will provide a list of Browser-Games-Hub games that have OpenID. These games will be playable within facebook.

A sneak preview of this feature you can find at:

http://apps.facebook.com/browser-games

I will make this application available for OpenSocial aswell, so it will be available for sites like Orkut, Netlog, etc.

The only thing you have to do to make your game appear in this list, is implement OpenID and add your game to Browser-Games-Hub.org.

Please use "bearbeiten" (edit) to add things to your last posting instead of double postings. Thank you.

Two posts with a time difference of about four hours aren't double posts.

Especially when the intention of the second posting is bumping the thread to gain the attention of more readers since new information is provided. ;)

It's 4 days actually  ;-)

Bumping is only useful if your topic is not in the first 5 topics...

But, the post does contain new information. If I would 've hit "edit", people wouldn't know the post held new information :)

But I'm sorry for the double post. It won't happen again.

Okay, last post from me :)

I have released a test version of the facebook application.
All basic functionality is in there.

The hub itself is finished. I might add more (optional) elements later, but for now i'm finished.

I'm looking for some games that support OpenID to launch the facebook app. (Can be found at http://apps.facebook.com/browser-games)

If you're interested in a facebook version of your game, contact me.

Have fun!
Daedeloth.
